There are some 13 villages and 177 wards in Manang district. The villages are composed of densly packed houses and each house could be reached easily. Manana's geography is divided into three different commnities. The four villages Dharapani, Thoche, Tachaibagarchhap and Chame of lower Manang are collectively known as  'Ghyalsamdo community'. The Khangsar, Tankimanang, Manang, Bhraka, Ngawal, Ghyaru and Pisang  villages are called 'Ngisyang Valley'. The name is derived from 'syang', which is a village in upper Mustang from where the community is believed to have migrated from. Likewise, the northen Nar and Fu vilages form a seperate community. Fu is also the remotest village of Manang. It takes 2 days walk from district headquarters Chame to reach Fu, 44km from Chame. The isolated village comprises about 40 houses. There is strict prohibition pf smoking and hunting wild animals in Fu village populated by the Gurung and Ghale communities. The ban was enforced 32 years ago by the Rinpochhe lama of the nearby Tasi Lakau Monastry. Meanwhile, the Nar vilage is located at a higher altitude and is more organized and considered more beautiful than Fu. Nar is situated at 4175 m above sea level and has 71 houses. The houses here are unique without doors on the lower storey. One has to climb the ladder to the upper level to enter the houses and then climb down. The 5200 m Kangla pass famous for viewing the unique hills can be reached from here in 5 hours.
