Daman, the main tourist spot of Makawanpur district is located on a lofty hillop and is 75 km from Kalanki or 56km from Hetauda by road. The hill station situated at an altitude of 2322 km is famous among nature lovers. The hill station provides a better view of the Himalayan ranges, sunrise and sunset. The panorama of Mountain ranges extending from Mt. Dhaulagiri in the west Mt. Everest in the east. A hillop view tower has also been constructed here.Long range telescopes are also installed in the 50 year old tower to take a closer look at the Mountains. People from far and wide pay a visit to the place surrounded by pristine natural beauty totally isolated from the hustle and bustle of the city. The surrounding hills are reddened in the spring season due to the bloominog rhododendron, attaracting large number of tourists.Not only the tourists but also the common travelers on the regular buses and private vehicles along the adjacent Tribhuvan Highway like to make a stop at Daman for sometime and enjoy the cool breeze and natural beauty.
The temperature remains always low in the area while it witnesses frequent snowfall in the winter season. Daman has become a maijor tourist destination in the rescent time populer among both internal and foreign tourists who lose themselves amidst the pristine nature. There are ample facilities of lodging and food services in Daman. Reguler bus service is available from Kalanki. The place can also be reached by hiking from Pharping.
KULEKHANI
Kulekhani is a beautiful village of Makawanpur District. The village, famous for delecious fish, is located 39km south of Kathmandu and 42 km north of Hetauda of Makawanpur district. Kulekhani can be reached from Hetauda through Bhainse and Bhimphedi while from Kathmandu a road leads to Kulekhani through Balkhu, Pharping. The village is fast becoming an attaractive destination for tourists.
People traveling along the Hetauda-Kathmandu route stop at Kulekhani to savor the tasty fish as well as to enjoy the scenery. It has also gained a reputation as a picnic spot for residents of Kathmandu and Hetauda, who can live in early morning and can return in the evening. One can also embark on a hike to Daman from Kulekhani. Only limited lodging facility is available in Kulekhani that is located near a major hydroelectric project.
CHITLANG
Chitlang is another beautiful village in Makawanpur district. The settlement of this village in Makawanpur district carries a significant potentil as a tourist destination. The village is famous for vegetable farming. Chitlang is 13 km from Godam, Kthmandu. Godam is starting point to reach Chitlang , regular buses operate to Godam from Rtnapark, Kathmandu. There is a 7 km uphill to reach Chitlang. Rural houses painted with white and red clay dot the attaractive village at the foothill of greenhills.
People are fascinated picturesque hamlets that are encountered on the way from Chitlang to Daman. The area has remained in the shadows due to the lack of promotion.
MARKHU is also one of a beautiful vilage in Makawanpur district. This village is mainly popular for boating and has been declared a tourist destinaton recently.So, it is gaining popularity also for the locally produced tasty fish along with boating.
